Founder's Voice

Raising the Bar despite challenges
That's a testament to the compassion and the commitment of our financial supporters, volunteers and employees. It wasn't an easy process though. We've had to adjust our processes and make difficult decisions. We've asked more from our supporters than ever. However, the result of that effort is undeniable.
SOUL is the first nonprofit organization to advocate the rights of adivasi people of the Savar community who have been living in the Sundarbans since the last 70 years without any valid tribal identity proof. Vidyashram is a major initiative by SOUL, promoting education and nurturing of the tribal children. As a result of which dropouts have decreased dramatically and parents are now showing high interest in sending their children to school. Now, as we push ahead into the new fiscal year, I'm glad of what SOUL has accomplished in the past years and excited about the future. Our community is strong and vibrant and together we will continue our efforts to uphold tribal rights, empowering women, safeguard these children's future and ensure proper health care service and academic support to the poor.
